Oscar Controls sells a line of spinners, a control which looks like a dial and is used in games such as Tempest.
Oscar Controls is currently closed, though the Oscar website still holds a lot of valuable information for project builders.
Fortunately, alternative spinnner products are now available from SlikStik and Groovy Game Gear. A new product (as of June 2006) from a new vendor called Apache Controls looks promising. The new spinner has up/down capability (for Discs of Tron) and is called the Blackhawk.
