Arcade games need arcade controls!! I got tired of using a keyboard and gamepads and went for the real thing, so I built six swappable panels that I can use with MAME.
Though they turned out "OK," the level of construction that I wanted just wasn't there. Already got a new box for the Star Wars controller; now I need to get back to work on the standard controller.
