Many emulators will supports USB game pads, allowing you to hack a USB game pad to interface with your controls. Often, it is as simple as taking apart the game pad, soldering a wire to the contact points on the game pad, and connecting that wire to the appropriate control switches. Interfacing this with each particular emulator will vary accordingly.
